What are biorenewables? Biorenewables are anything made from plant or animal material. They can replace non-renewable materials made from petrochemicals and minerals. Thousands of materials can be made from plants: fuels, textiles, drugs, moisturisers, paints, building bricks, insulation, plastic... Using biorenewable fuels and materials makes processes more sustainable. This means that they can be used by future generations without harming wildlife, human life or the planet.
-
we won't run out of plants because we can grow them again and again
-
biorenewables can help to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions
-
biorenewables will not use up natural resources
-
biorenewables are good for rural businesses; they create new markets for agricultural products
-
some biorenewable materials are biodegradable; they reduce waste and can be turned into soil to grow new plants.
Do you cover wind and solar power? This site only covers plant-derived renewables.
